The Bee Hummingbird, which is found only in Cuba, is an absolute miniature, even among hummingbirds. It measures a mere two and a quarter inches long. Bee Hummingbirds are often mistaken for bees. They weigh less than two grams. Bee hummingbirds are so small, in fact, that they have to compete with certain insects for food. In order to have their pick of the nectar, mosquitos and spiders, male bee hummingbirds defend their favorite flora from hawk moths and bumblebees.
